Pentre Riding Stables is a long-estabished equestrian centre, having been in business for over twenty years. The proprietor, Karen Williams (pictured left) has spent a lifetime around horses.
Situated in the midst of the natural beauty of the Brecon Beacons country park, Pentre Riding Stables offers pony trekking amidst a variety of terrains. The horses are well-mannered, sure-footed, and very capable of negotiating the steep, often rocky terrain to the high level areas from where the views are best.
Pentre Riding Stables is on the main Brecon road, the A4067 running from the M4 junction by Swanea, up to Sennybridge where it joins the A40. The postcode is SA9 1GJ but this postcode covers a large area, and SatNavs have the tendency to take one off the road somewhere near the Dann-yr-Ogof Caves. Pentre Riding Stables is directly on the main road, facing opposite Craig-y-Nos Castle.
Details as to how to approach from a distance can be viewed on the website for Pentre Riding Stables.
Pony Trekking is available in groups of up to 20, and can be booked from anywhere from a short ride to a full day's special outing. The guides are trained, experienced and professional, and health and safety is a priority. Suitable clothes and a hard hat must be worn, and riders can bring a small bottle of water if necessary.
Horse-riding lessons are available singly, or in groups and are priced according to duration. Pentre Riding Stables caters for all ages and abilities, and will tailor the training to the needs of the learner.
Children's riding parties, and pony club activities can be arranged on request, and Pentre Riding Stables also operates as a livery stables, where an owner may board their own horse. Alternatively, some of the horses owned by the stables may be hired by customers, and boarded on their own property.
The following Health and Safety basics must be followed:-
• As the riding abilities of all our vistors will vary, all riding activities begin with an assessment, allocation of a horse most suited to your level of experience and, if required, training in basic riding skills.
• We offer riding for children of 4 years old upwards
• All Riding Hats used must be to current British Safety Standards. These can be loaned, free of charge, at Pentre and must be worn during all horse related activities
• Suitable footwear must be worn around the horses, and when riding. We require that you wear shoes or boots with a smooth sole and a low but substantial heel
• Long trousers / jodhpurs and long-sleeved tops (very hot weather permitting!) should also be worn during all horse related activities
• For your safety, jewellery must not be worn (wedding rings etc may be taped)
Pentre Riding Stables also runs bed and breakfast accommodation, with some provision also for self-catering. Children's riding holidays can be catered for too.
